For the 7th consecutive year, we’re sponsoring the DTE Energy Cherry Royale Parade, a signature event of the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City. Each year, we partner with an environmentally-focused, local nonprofit organization as part of our Cherry Festival sponsorship. This year our partner is the Conservation Resource Alliance, an organization dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of northwest Michigan. Our float showcases "Healthy Rivers, Healthy Communities". We also partner with The National Cherry Festival and Waste Management to offer a recycling program at the Festival Open Space. Five tons of trash were recycled when the program debuted in 2007. This year, we hope to take more than seven tons out of the waste stream during Festival week. New this year is our Energy Environmental Day, which gathers hands-on environmental groups to make Festival-goers aware of how they can get more environmentally involved in their communities. |

The Taylor Conservatory Foundation, a non-profit organization, is creating a new botanical garden for public enjoyment in Southeast Michigan. A one/third scale reproduction of the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory on Belle Isle is the focal point of the city of Taylor's new Conservatory and Botanical Garden. The conservatory, originally built by DTE Energy for the 1999 Detroit International Bloomfest, was donated to the city. With the support of additional corporate sponsors, the Foundation is developing this new 2.3 acre garden in Heritage Park. ![]() |
