Bullet HB 5520 would provide the MPSC the statutory authority to review and approve the sale of generation assets greater than 200 MW.

Bullet HB 5521 would institute the Certificate of Need process for authorizing the construction of new baseload power plants.

Bullet HB 5522 provides for deskewing electric rates and authorizes economic development rates.

BulletHB 5523 would institute a new process for utility rate proceedings.

BulletHB 5524 would establish a one-time opportunity for customers to elect to be an Electric Choice customer and institute new rules for Choice customers who choose to resume purchasing their power from a regulated utility.

BulletHB 5525 creates an energy efficiency program.

 The following Senate Bills were introduced Jan. 24, 2008

Bullet SB 427 requires the Michigan Public Service Commission to determine an electric utility's requirements to meet the electricity needs of its full-service customers.

Bullet SB 947 is a far-reaching bill that would establish a statewide renewable portfolio standard, electric supply reliability standards, a certificate of need process for the construction of new power plants, a Michigan Renewable Energy Fund and a Michigan Energy Efficiency Fund.

Bullet SB 1000 requires the state to purchase a certain percentage of the state electricity use from renewable energy sources from electric by certain dates.

BulletSB 1040 provides an income tax credit for residential use of a qualified energy program.

BulletSB 1041 requires utilities to offer customers the option of green energy programs.

BulletSB 1042 creates additional renewable energy renaissance zones.

BulletSB 1043 modifies the conditions for establishing a renewable energy renaissance zone.

BulletSB 1044 provides a sales tax exemption for personal property used to construct or enhance a renewable energy facility.

BulletSB 1045 creates a renewable energy commission.

BulletSB 1046 creates a low-income energy account program and provides for tax deductions and credits.

BulletSB 1047 provides for contributions through income tax credits to low-income energy efficiency accounts.

BulletSB 1048 provides income tax credits for the purchase of energy efficient products.
