Top Energy-Saving Upgrades and Rebates for Grocery Stores

Considering making upgrades to improve your customers’ experience or update inefficient equipment? You can apply for rebates designed to make your next project more affordable. You’ll reduce your out-of-pocket costs and decrease payback time.

Energy-saving opportunities and rebates for grocery stores include but are not limited to:

Cafe interior LED lighting

Interior LED Lighting

Compared to incandescent bulbs, ENERGY STAR® certified LED lighting uses up to 90% less energy and lasts up to 25 times longer — that’s up to 15,000 hours — which reduces your maintenance costs. LEDs also generate less heat, which is especially important in the cold areas of your store.

Refrigeration

You rely on your refrigeration systems 24/7. Improving the efficiency of your refrigeration equipment helps maintain consistent temperatures and reduce food waste. Plus, by improving performance and reliability you reduce maintenance costs.

Night Covers

Use night covers on your refrigerated open display cases to extend the shelf life and appearance of your perishable goods. The covers deploy during unoccupied hours to stabilize case temperatures and reduce energy use.

LED Case Lighting

LED case lights use less wattage than linear fluorescent lighting, distribute light more evenly and provide better color rendering of the product displayed. These lights also reduce the amount of heat introduced into the case, reducing compressor runtime and refrigeration costs.

Anti-Sweat Heaters

Anti-sweat heaters on doors are designed to run constantly to eliminate moisture buildup on the glass. Heaters are only needed during periods of high humidity. Adding anti-sweat heater controls to refrigerated case doors will reduce runtime of the heaters, also reducing the amount of heat added to the refrigerated case.

HVAC

HVAC systems generally account for up to 51% of a building’s energy use. Maintaining your HVAC can increase efficiency, reduce unplanned downtime and make your store more comfortable for your employees and customers.
