Managing your building’s energy use doesn’t have to be complicated. We work with you through the DTE Retro-Commissioning Program (RCx) to provide cost-effective, highly customized solutions based on your building’s specific needs. RCx offers valuable expertise and rebates to offset improvement costs, saving you energy and money.
The Retro-Commissioning Program consists of three tracks: a targeted Express Track, a more detailed Standard Track and a specialized Industrial Track. Our team will help you identify the track that’s best suited for you. Read the program overview.

Strategic Energy Management Program (SEM) |
SEM helps large commercial and industrial customers focus on changing business practices and establishing organizational cultures to reduce energy waste, improve energy efficiency and verify results.
Find & Fix® |
Improve performance and lower energy use and operating costs. You'll also get a complimentary survey.
Retro-Commissioning Program
Commercial DTE customers can save money, reduce operating costs and improve their building’s performance through the RCx Program. You’ll receive a detailed assessment of your building’s systems with an investigative retro-commissioning study fully funded by DTE Energy (an up to $80K value) and earn up to $60,000 in bonus rebates for exceeding minimum savings targets.
The RCx Standard Track looks for these optimization opportunities and more:

Commercial DTE customers looking to save energy, reduce operating costs and improve building performance can maximize their efforts through the program.
DTE fully funds the program. This commitment shows you’re invested in implementing Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) identified by the service provider. Please note that the implementation cost typically gets covered by the rebates you receive upon completion of the project.
A Standard Track project typically runs for 8-10 months.
Retro-Commissioning Program
Inefficiencies in your production systems can reduce output and increase operational costs. Optimizing these processes with the DTE Retro-Commissioning Program is easy. The new, specialized RCx Industrial Track was created to help industrial customers get the most savings and benefits out of the retro-commissioning process. You’ll receive a detailed assessment of your building’s systems with an investigative retro-commissioning study fully funded by DTE Energy (an up to $80k value). You can also receive up to $60,000 in rebates for exceeding savings goals!

We offer comprehensive evaluations for any systems, processes and equipment you currently have or may be interested in. Our survey can identify air leaks, inappropriate air usage and optimization of compressors. Additionally, we specialize in optimizing HVAC/BMS/lighting schedules and setpoints. Our expertise extends to optimizing systems that utilize process heating, process cooling, refrigeration and specific manufacturing equipment. For gas customers, we provide surveys on steam traps and boilers. We also offer valuable assistance in identifying and minimizing loads during extended non-production hours.
The survey and engineering support provided by DTE are entirely free. Customers are responsible for covering any costs associated with implementing the identified energy-saving measures, if applicable. In most cases, the optimizations tend to be low-cost or no-cost, and participants often earn rebates that exceed the costs of implementation.
Retro-Commissioning Program
You’ll receive a free targeted assessment with the Retro-Commissioning Program (RCx) Express Track. A program specialist will tour your facility and assess opportunities for improving energy efficiency of your building and process systems. You may receive up to $2,500 to cover the controls contractor’s cost. You can also earn up to $60,000 in bonus rebates for exceeding the minimum savings targets.
