Air-Source Heat Pump

Convert to save money and energy

An air-source heat pump is an electrically powered, all-in-one heating and cooling system designed to work with or replace your traditional furnace and air conditioner. It cools your home in the summer and heats your home in the winter. This proven technology is energy efficient, low maintenance and cost-effective.

How It Works

Air-source heat pumps use the same technology and mechanisms as the refrigerator in your home.

Air source heat pumps use electricity to transfer energy between indoor and outdoor air. These systems consume far less electricity than electric furnaces, baseboard heaters or space heaters because they move heat rather than generate heat.

In cooling mode, the heat pump functions like an air conditioner, moving heat from inside to outside the home. In heating mode, the refrigerant flow is reversed to extract low-temperature heat from outdoors and deliver concentrated high-temperature heat to the home.

Benefits

Depending on the size of your home, an air-source heat pump can save you up to 50% on your energy bills or an average of $850 per year when you convert from propane.

Other benefits of installing an air-source heat pump include:

  • Comfort - Provides consistent temperatures in your home without hot and cold spikes.
  • Increased Energy Efficiency - Uses less energy by transferring heat rather than generating it.
  • Many Options to Choose From - Works in almost any application, with or without air ducts.
  • Simple - Low Maintenance and lasts 15-20 years.
  • Quiet - Noise caused by the expansion and contraction of heat ducts is gone.

See why an Air-Source Heat Pump is better than your traditional heating/cooling system.

Compare your traditional air conditioner to three types of air-source heat pumps.

  1. A dual-fuel air-source heat pump works with your new or existing furnace. The heat pump does most of the heating and only uses the furnace as a backup when it gets too cold.
  2. An all-electric air-source heat pump replaces the traditional fossil fuel furnace for an electric air handler. It runs at very high efficiencies allowing it to operate at subzero temperatures and continuously heat the home.
  3. A ductless mini-split air-source heat pump is used when there is no existing ductwork. These all-electric units allow the homeowner to control the temperature in your entire home, individual rooms or a specific area of the home, such as additions.
